At Sitting of RA NA Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs

On June 8, the RA NA Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs moderated by Naira Zohrabyan convened its regular sitting.

The deputies in the second reading debated and endorsed the bill on Advocacy authored by the deputies of the RA NA Prosperous Armenia Faction Naira Zohrabyan, Shake Isayan. According to the key speaker and the co-author Naira Zohrabyan, the Government made one technical amendment.

As the RA Deputy Minister of Justice Kristinne Grigoryan has presented, the item on Ratifying the Optional Protocol on the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights was debated and endorsed.

The key speaker informed that the Protocol was adopted on 10 December 2008, and our country signed it on 29 September 2009. By the end of 2019, 45 states signed the document, and 24 states ratified it.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, by ratifying the Protocol, the cooperation between Armenian and the UN Human Rights Council and the UN Human Rights Treaty Bodies, particularly the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights will be strengthened, more raising the international prestige of Armenia.
